Mélissa adopts an integrative and collaborative approach, centered on understanding each person’s lived experience in all its complexity. Her work is grounded in the assessment of social functioning, which allows her to better understand the interactions between the personal, relational, social, and environmental realities that influence well-being and the difficulties people experience.
Since 2020, she has worked in the field of addiction intervention and harm reduction with diverse populations. Her experience has led her to develop a nuanced understanding of issues related to substance use, interpersonal relationships, sexuality, stigma, and psychosocial vulnerabilities.
Holding a master’s degree in social work, her clinical essay project focused on sexualized substance use and chemsex among young adults, with a particular interest in the role of stress related to sexual performance and the influence of sources of sexual education among young people in a context of sexualized substance use. She also completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
At Y2 Consulting Psychologists, in addition to issues related to addiction and sexuality, her clinical interests include relational difficulties, couple dynamics and gender roles, body image, as well as the impact of social norms on mental health, self-esteem, and behaviours.
She favours an approach marked by openness and curiosity, as well as an anti-oppressive stance, allowing difficulties to be explored without judgment and at each person’s own pace. Her practice is also rooted in a systemic perspective, attentive to the social, cultural, and relational influences that shape individual experiences. She places particular importance on creating a safe, humane, and authentic space where people can better understand their relational and emotional patterns, develop their sense of agency, and move toward changes that feel true to them.
