Biography

Dr. Sophie Magnan, D. Psy., is a clinical psychologist, member of the Professional Order of Psychologists of Quebec and part of Y2 Consulting Psychologists' team. She obtained her doctorate degree in Psychology from the University of Montreal.

She first started her career working with the underpriviledged collaborating closely with community resources. Dr. Magnan's desire and profound passion to help patients needing to overcome struggles led her to work with the less fortunate.

Dr. Magnan then began devoting her time to working with people with mental health issues including severe mental health issues and personality disorders. She has worked with this clientèle for a number of years at the Dorval-Lachine CLSC, the Lakeshore General Hospital and the St-Eustache psychiatric outpatient clinic. Dr. Magnan has also worked with patients having both intellectual disabilities and behavioural disorders.

She has been a member of the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire sur les problèmes conjugaux et les agressions sexuelles (CRIPCAS) an interdisciplinary research center working on marital problems and sexual assault. Her research areas of interest focussed on the effectiveness of interventions in reducing sexual assault in young people.

Dr. Magnan's professional credentials show her clinical experience and interest in the treatment of anxiety, depression, drug and alcohol dependence, gambling and sexual assault. The depth and scope of her career path are an indication of her ability to provide psychological assistance that is non-judgmental, embedded in empathy, openness and compassion.

She works in French with teenagers and adults.
